Bar Pepito opened its doors in March 2010 across the courtyard from Camino in King’s Cross. It’s an intimate Andalusian bodega specializing in the most exciting styles of sherry, and mixes the best traditions from Jerez with a refreshing up to date approach.
We put our heart and soul into the project, with several research trips to this unique and very special part of Spain (as if we needed the excuse). Although at the time sherry was far from cool, we’ve always believed in this brilliant drink and its extraordinary flavours, from the driest wines in the world to the sweetest. In fact, we’ll happily argue that it’s the world’s greatest food-matching wine – try our tasting menu and see!
We were thrilled and amazed by the amount of press our opening generated. One of our greatest moments was winning Time Out’s Bar of the Year in 2010, cementing our humble belief that Pepito is one of the best bars in London! Nowadays it’s cool to drink sherry, and we’re immensely proud that we were at the forefront of the ‘sherry revolution’.
And when the owners of significant bodegas in Jerez came to visit, they looked around the room, checked the style and materials we used, and declared that were it not for the cloudy skies outside they could well be in Jerez.
